A Belgian Air Force A400M military transport aircraft was hit by gunfire during a UN mission in Haiti.
The information was revealed by Belgium’s Minister of Defence, Theo Francken, on his social media. Despite the attack, the aircraft managed to land safely, and the crew was unharmed, according to Francken.
The multinational mission in Haiti, authorized by the UN Security Council, aims to help local authorities regain control of territories seized by criminal gangs.

Belgium received its first A400M military transport aircraft in December 2020. It is currently operated by the 15th Air Transport Wing of the Belgian Air Force, based at Melsbroek Air Base near Brussels.
The country has eight of these aircraft in service, one of which formally belongs to Luxembourg. Both countries operate the aircraft jointly within a combined aviation unit.
